Job description
Marco is a fintech firm focused on financing underserved SME exporters in the LATAM. Born out of the Antler Accelerator in New York, Marco has raised over $7MM in Equity from distinguished investors and has a $100MM credit facility. Given the profitable lending business model and an underserved market, Marco is looking to scale rapidly. This role will have high impact potential within the Marco team.
Job responsibilities
Underwriting Associate will perform all due diligence procedures on applicants prior to credit committee review. This includes but is not limited to:
- Individually can conduct underwriting based on our credit manual and make compelling credit memos. Includes some more clerical work but is essential to the blocking and tackling of our business: 1) Verifying the borrower’s identity and income; 2) Analyzing the borrower’s financial documents; 3) Contacting clients to request for additional information by phone or by email on an ad-hoc basis
- Monitor client facilities by conducting daily evaluations
- Responsible for reviewing legal documentation and ensuring proper administrative follow up of credit decisions
- Responsible for conducting company and industry research as necessary
- Credit process improvement
Job requirements
- At least 3-4 years’ experience in an underwriting role within the financial services. Ideally at least 2 years in Investment Banking or Big Four Accounting.
- Advanced Excel & financial modeling skills. Able to build robust financial models.
- Fintech and CPA experience is a plus
- Ability to work under pressure and have a sense of urgency to accomplish tasks at hand
- Spanish speaking proficiency is highly desirable; Fluency in English is required
