Director of Credit Operations (LatAm)
Job description
Reporting to the Head of Operations you will be responsible for the smooth onboarding of a portfolio of loans/ trade finance transactions and ongoing control and monitoring of the risks.
The Director of Operations role involves building and maintaining client relationships, managing accounts, and assessing risk. It is also responsible for making quick business decisions that have a real impact on our client and their customers. This position manages client relationships, including collateral verification and risk management at service levels consistent with the business objectives of our client.
Permanent member of Credit Committees, will need to make sure all operational risks are addressed from a transactional and documentational perspective.
The ideal candidate will provide top-level expertise in trade finance transactions as well as portfolio monitoring.
Job responsibilities
- Preserve and protect the capital employed in client relationships and to provide a level of professional service that results in long-term client retention
- Analyze portfolio performance and ensure timely submission of client funding requests
- Reviews daily transactions for accuracy and initiate customer’s funding transfer(s)
- Perform receivables monitoring activity in accordance with internal procedures and factoring/ABL rules
- Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining credit controls to prevent portfolio loss exposure. Maintenance of strong control procedures to mitigate loss exposure
- Develop and maintain operational guidelines for staff
- Manage staff to ensure that all operational issues are handled in a timely fashion
- Perform limited Financial Statement Analysis (Account Debtor and Client)
- Prepare product or service reports by collecting and analyzing customer information
- Create a team environment and business culture that optimizes both customer service and risk management disciplines
- Strong understanding of UCC filings, liens, guarantees, fideicomiso structure, Incoterms, transportation risks, trade finance regulation etc
- Train and mentor team member and nurture an environment of shared success through encouragement and empowerment
- Understand Legal Documentation related to trade finance transactions
- Experience with Factorsoft or any other factoring software (even Inhouse software)
- Process automation, RPA, Software connectivity and API are a plus
Job requirements
- At least +7 years of experience in Trade Finance and/or Credit Operations leading role.
- Expertise with documentation regarding foreign trade operations, regulations, associated risks, transportation insurance, Incoterms etc
- Factoring experience is a must and knowledge of PO Finance, Supply Chain and ABL are a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills

- An ideal candidate will have experience with FactorSoft, FactorCloud or another factor software
- Experience in fast growing companies is a plus
- Experience with logistics and transportation is desirable

- Ability to provide excellent customer service while meeting funding deadlines
