Building a New Trade Era: How We’re Making Global Business Personal
When we founded Marco, we weren’t trying to build just another fintech company. We were trying to solve something much deeper: the daily friction exporters face while trying to grow, and the feeling that no one was truly on their side.
That idea of being “on your side” has become a guiding light for everything we do. I often describe Marco, not as a lender or a platform, but as a copilot, someone in the cockpit with you, seeing what you see, helping you make the right decision when it matters most. It’s more than business. It’s personal.

From Friction to Opportunity: What We Saw in Latin America
When I met Peter (my co-founder) in a venture accelerator, I didn’t know much about cross-border trade. But hearing his experience, importing tens of millions of dollars of goods into the U.S., opened my eyes. Despite all the value he created, he had to navigate broken systems: no access to credit, disconnected platforms, opaque processes, zero support.
That’s when it clicked. Latin America didn’t need just a tool. It needed an operating system. One built specifically for the complexities of international trade.
Today, we work with exporters of all sizes: from rural producers shipping fruits, to industrial SMEs exporting construction materials. The common thread? These businesses are resilient, creative, and deeply underserved.
Nearshoring Isn’t a Trend. It’s the Future.
Since 2020, we’ve seen Mexico surpass China as the largest trading partner to the U.S. Central American markets are expanding. Brazil is diversifying away from China. Despite global uncertainty, the direction is clear: LATAM is becoming the backbone of the global supply chain.
But market opportunity also brings new complexity. Exporting to new buyers means dealing with different regulations, currencies, payment terms, tax implications. That’s why we designed Marco to help you grow globally without losing control.
Our multi-currency accounts let you get paid in USD or local currencies, and pay suppliers across borders. Our Buyer Check tool (completely free) helps you assess if your potential clients are actually creditworthy, so you never ship blind.
And with the launch of Maria AI, we’re taking another leap forward. Maria is your intelligent agent inside Marco: it helps you track credit, understand invoice timelines, and automate workflows, all in natural, simple language. It’s your digital trade assistant, always on.
We Don’t Just Fund Your Business. We Walk With You.
One thing I think about constantly is this: What does trust feel like in business?
To me, it feels like confidence. Like knowing you have a team backing you, not just a tool. Someone who gets your reality and helps you act with speed and clarity.
That’s why our focus isn’t just credit. It’s guidance. We’ve worked with businesses across nearly a billion dollars in financing, and we use that knowledge to inform every feature we build and every conversation we have.
From helping you open your U.S. entity, to financing receivables with major buyers, we want to be there for the long haul. Not just when you need cash but when you need insight, perspective, or support.
This Is Only the Beginning
We’re building Marco to be a platform that evolves with your ambition. If you’re selling globally, you shouldn’t have to figure everything out alone. You shouldn’t have to chase down your buyers for payment or wait days for funds to settle. You should be building — confidently.
We know what it’s like to start from scratch. We know what it’s like to have more questions than answers. And we know the power of having someone by your side when it counts.
